Hi! I'm Alex, a Software Engineer from Vienna, Austria. I've been writing software professionally for more than 15 years.
I'm currently CTO at everyone codes, a non-profit programming school. We teach programming to people in need and help them find a job. The courses are completely free and participants even get a stipend from the government so they can focus on their education.
To keep my skills sharp and up to date, I also do some freelancing on the side.
I also run Philomatics, a Programming YouTube Channel with short, high-density educational videos.
Check out one of my most watched videos here. I also have a podcast series, check out the first episode.
Previously, I was a Senior Software Engineer at Insider Navigation, working on Indoor Navigation using Augmented Reality. I have also worked at all about apps, Steamclock Software and mgSolutions, building some great mobile applications. I also taught Mobile Development at the University of Applied Sciences Vienna.
I have a strong interest in education. In my spare time, I read a lot and try to improve my piano skills.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Visual Computing from Vienna University of Technology. I have also taken numerous courses in Philosophy, Physics, and Communication Sciences at University of Vienna.
In 2014, I was accepted to the Master of Educational Technology and Applied Learning Science program at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science. I was also nominated for a Fulbright Scholarship, but didn't attend the program for financial reasons.
